Patrick Collins, LCSW, LCAS
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist, Presby Psych Good Practice Officer

Education: Patrick earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Elon University and a Master of Social Work degree from the Joint Master of Social Work Program at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro and North Carolina A&T State University.
Clinical Practice: Patrick has been working with adolescents 18+ and adults for over a decade, and specializes in treating co-occurring mental health and substance use issues. He believes in an integrative approach to treatment that appreciates the complex interactions between mental, emotional and spiritual health. Using an eclectic approach that combines traditional talk therapy with modern brain-body modalities, he works with a wide range of challenges including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, alcohol and drug misuse, PTSD and complex trauma. He also is trained in Brainspotting, a powerful brain-body therapy that allows for deeper access to and healing of unprocessed trauma.
Prior to joining Presby Psych, Patrick supervised the behavioral health program for a community health clinic for the underserved population in Charlotte, where he worked with a range of co-morbid mental health, substance use and chronic health conditions, and helped launch a medication assisted treatment program for opioid addiction. He has also led individual and group treatment for individuals being released from federal prison with histories of addiction. A former journalist, Patrick uses an array of treatment modalities with his clients to assist them in telling the stories of where they have been, where they are, and where they want to be. He believes strongly that clients are the experts of their own lives, and as a social worker by training, values diversity.
Location: Patrick’s office is at our Sharon Road/South Park location where he accepts Medicare, Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Carolina Behavioral Health Alliance, Cigna, United Healthcare, out-of- network benefits and sliding scale fees.
