Education: Ms. Bernath earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lenoir-Rhyne University and is a National Certified Counselor, reflecting her commitment to providing the highest quality of care in the counseling profession. She also holds a Master of Occupational Therapy from the University of Toledo (Medical College of Ohio) and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus in Human Resources from The Ohio State University.
Clinical Practice: As a counselor, Julie brings a compassionate and person-centered approach to her work, where every client is viewed with unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuineness. She believes that one size does not fit all, and tailors treatment to the unique needs and goals of everyone. By creating a safe, judgement-free, and supportive environment, she helps clients feel understood and empowered to explore their challenges. Her practice includes working with individuals facing anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, women’s issues, and relationship concerns, always with the goal of fostering growth, resilience, and healing.
Professional & Related Experience: With over 25 years of experience as an occupational therapist, Ms. Bernath brings a unique perspective to her work as a counselor. Throughout her career, she has supported people through physical, emotional, and life challenges, helping them adapt, build resilience, and find confidence in themselves. This experience has given Julie a holistic view of the mind-body connection and the impact of environment and daily roles on overall well being. This experience also strengthened her ability to listen deeply, build trust, and meet people where they are, which are essential qualities in creating a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship space where clients can explore their struggles and discover their strengths.
Location: Julie is taking clients at the Selwyn Avenue/Myers Park location where she accepts Blue Cross/Blue Shield, out of network benefits and sliding scale fees.
