Ken Gepfert is a communications professional with more than 35 years of experience in journalism and public relations. He joined the board in 2018 to help raise the community’s awareness of Presby Psych’s commitment to accessible and inclusive mental health counseling.
Ken was a Wall Street Journal reporter and editor for 13 years in Charlotte, Atlanta, Brussels and New York. In the 1980s, he was Executive Business Editor and Assistant Managing Editor of The Charlotte Observer. Previously he was a reporter and editor at the Los Angeles Times, Associated Press in Florida and Rocky Mountain News in Denver.
In public relations, he was a Senior Vice President for the Luquire George Andrews agency in Charlotte, Editorial Services Manager and Chief Speechwriter for the former First Union (now Wells Fargo), and now helps companies and nonprofits tell their stories.
He has undergraduate and graduate degrees in journalism from the University of Missouri and University of Texas and was a Professional Journalism Fellow at the University of Michigan.
Ken and his wife Nancy are the proud parents and grandparents of three daughters and four grandchildren.
